 The role of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) in reducing the problem of antimicrobial resistance


- Havelhöhe Community Hospital in Berlin

is an acute care hospital with 305 beds and 590 employees. It is one of the three major acute anthroposophic hospitals in Germany that offer not only modern emergency medicine for the regional population, but also the additional treatment possibilities of Anthroposophic Medicine.  

- Herdecke Community Hospital 

in Herdecke (near Dortmund) was the first hospital to practice Anthroposophic Medicine as an acute care hospital. Opened on the 11th of November 1969 with 192 beds, the house expanded over the years to 471 beds including several new buildings, the Dorte Krause-Institute, a nursing school, and the Ita Wegman School for sick children. Today, approximately 11,000 patients are taken care of in Herdecke each year, by about 1,200 employees.

- The Filderklinik Stuttgart-Filderstadt 

was opened in 1975 is a secondary level provincial hospital with 219 beds in five major departments and 575 employees. The Filderklinik is the emergency hospital for the nearby Stuttgart International Airport

- Öschelbronn Clinic - Centre for Integrative Medicine und Cancer Therapy,

located in the foothills of the Black Forest near Pforzheim, is a center for integrative medicine and cancer therapy. The focus is on internal medicine treatment of cancer with traditional medicine and anthroposophic therapies. Additionally, chronic diseases from the entire spectrum of internal medicine are treated here. The house has 70 beds in the acute inpatient area, of which six beds belong to the Anthroposophic-Oncological Day-Clinic and eight beds to the Palliative Unit.

- Paracelsus-Hospital Bad Liebenzell-Unterlengenhardt

 is a specialized clinic for internal medicine and has 54 beds. Unterlengenhardt is located near Pforzheim and surrounded by idyllic nature. The Paracelsus Hospital combines modern diagnosis and therapy with a holistic therapeutic approach. The focus treatment of fibromyalgia, gastro-intestinal diseases, liver disease and cancer. High blood pressure is treated wiht a specially tailored, individual-oriented approach ("three types" concept). Paracelsus hospital has a long record of expertise in treatment with hyperthermia In cancer as well as in fibromyalgia (muscular rheumatism. The enhanced therapeutic concept is recognized by all health insurance policies.

- Integrative Medizin Ward in the Asklepios Westklinikum in Hamburg

 is part of the Centre for Internal Medicine at the Asklepios Hospital in Hamburg, West-Rissen, and has 25 beds.

- Friedrich-Husemann-Klinik, Buchenbach

The Friedrich Husemann Clinic in Buchenbach near Freiburg is a specialized clinic for Psychiatry und Psychotherapy.

- Rehab-Clinic Haus am Stalten, Steinen

The Haus am Stalten  is situated at 700 meters altitude on a southern slope of the Black Forest in the border triangle Germany - France - Switzerland with an unobstructed view to the Swiss Alps. In addition to competent conventional medical care, the whole spectrum of Anthroposophic Medicine and natural medicine is offered. The wonderful location of the house on primary rock, the quiet and peaceful atmosphere throughout the facility, the silence of the surroundings and powerful nature of the Black Forest are balm for stressed and sick people.

- Rehab-Clinic Schloss Hamborn, Borchen

Hamborn Castle is located about seven kilometres south of Paderborn and has been the anthroposophic centre in East Westphalia for over 70 years. It is also home to the rehabilitation clinic.
